The best wedding and elopement venues in North Wales
For adventurous & laid-back nature-loving couples dreaming of a super scenic wedding or elopement here.My favourite wedding & elopement venues in North Wales
I’m a wedding photographer based in glorious North Wales and also photograph scenic elopements in Eryri | Snowdonia; having photographed lots of lovely weddings and elopements here, this guide features some true gems I’ve come across and what truly are my favourite wedding & elopement venues in North Wales.
If you want to get married in North Wales – we’re properly spoilt for choice when it comes to beauty spots! Wales is also fast becoming a popular destination for adventurous couples wanting to come here to get married or elope. It is no surprise that some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the UK are found here, featuring some truly spectacular views!
You’ll also find magical little locations in this guide that are some of my favourite wedding & elopement venues in North Wales for those wanting a romantic elopement wedding in Wales with a legal ceremony just for the two of you. Not entirely sure what exactly an elopement is? Take a look at my Snowdonia Elopement Page where you can find everything you need to know if you want to start planning a super dreamy elopement in Wales straight away.
I love photographing both elopements and weddings and have split this guide for the best wedding & elopement venues in North Wales into 2 sections, kicking things off with my favourite small elopement venues, you’ll find larger wedding venues a bit further down.
Romantic Elopement Venues in Wales
For those looking for something a little different and small on their wedding day – an elopement in Wales could be for you! If you want to elope legally rather than have a two-part wedding day (legal ceremony on one day, celebratory or symbolic ceremony on another), you can get married at a register office followed by a wedding day adventure straight after. I have to say – long gone are the days when register office weddings were a bit *meh*, in fact – having a micro wedding or elopement in Wales has become quite trendy but if you want to keep it small yet romantic, below are the elopement venues in Wales I’d be looking at if I was getting married again :) Not entirely sure what an elopement is? You can read all about it over on my post about how to plan an elopement anywhere in the UK and if you wanted to elope to Wales and have me photograph it for you – contact me, happy to help.
Penarth Fawr, Llyn Peninsula
This stunning historic house wedding venue with a timber-structure hall is literally made for uber-romantic small wedding ceremonies and micro weddings in Wales. It’s a popular ceremony-only venue for adventurous couples looking to elope legally. Located not far from Criccieth (and the 3rd best beach bar in the world!), this elopement venue along the Llyn Peninsula is a great choice for couples looking for relaxed coastal vibes in their wedding photographs and is also great for the kids and dog-friendly. Stay in a beautiful cottage or the romantic shepherd’s hut (with outdoor hot tub, perfect for all you romantic hoping to star gaze on your wedding night).

Gwydir Castle near Llanrwst
Beautiful historic Welsh house situated in the foothills of glorious Eryri | Snowdonia, this is quite possibly one of the most atmospheric castle wedding venues in Wales.
The early Tudor ground-floor hall is available for a ceremony and champagne reception with a stunning ceremony room featuring an open log fire and candles making it very romantic. You’ll also be surrounded by beautiful peacocks on your wedding day; they are freely roaming around in ten acres of breathtakingly stunning gardens – perfect for those all-important wedding day photo opportunities.

Tower Hill Barns, Trevor
Tower Hill Barns is just down the road from my house and it’s easy to see why it’s one of my favourite wedding venues in North Wales! It’s a rustic luxury barn wedding venue set in the most stunning rolling Welsh countryside – perfect for relaxed country weddings. A family-run wedding venue, it is essentially a converted 250-year-old cattle barn located on the outskirts of Llangollen and I actually do remember what it looked like before its stunning transformation. Their highly experienced and professional team is always on hand to offer a warm and friendly welcome. And their attention to detail is second to none!
The food at this rustic barn wedding venue is to die for! With a super passionate and highly experienced in-house catering team on hand to help create your perfect wedding food and 2 in-house, fully qualified mixologists who are happy to create your own personalised cocktail menu for the day – this Welsh wedding venue is the perfect place for super relaxed country wedding party vibes.
Tyn Dwr Hall, Llangollen
Tucked away in the most glorious Welsh countryside you’ll find the stunning Tyn Dwr Hall. It’s near to the historic town of Llangollen. And only 20 minutes from Wrexham and 45 minutes from Chester. It’s also just a 10-minute drive from my house! I always love photographing weddings here; the hall was sympathetically restored by its current owners and offers plenty of spots for gorgeous wedding portraits, both inside and out. If you want to combine rustic country charm with elegance and an air of grandeur this is the place for you. Want to see more from this gorgeous venue? Head on over to Ryan & Emily’s beautiful wedding day at Tyn Dwr Hall.

Treberfydd House
Finishing off my list of favourite wedding venues in North Wales with
Treberfydd House, located in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Now – I fully appreciate this isn’t in the north of Wales but I was lucky enough to photograph Amber & Hugh’s stunning wedding day here and I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this super special wedding venue overlooking Llangorse lake. Breathtaking views across to the Black Mountains and set in 10 acres of peaceful garden – perfect for beautiful wedding photographs!
The Grade 1-listed house is licensed for wedding ceremonies, and you can choose to be married in the billiards room or conservatory; alternatively, St Gastyn’s, an ancient church on the shores of the lake, is only a short walk away.
