Holmfirth Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard in the heart of Yorkshire and was a perfectly picturesque setting for this English Sri Lankan fusion wedding!

Set in 7 acres and with unrivalled panoramic views across the beautiful Holm Valley, Holmfirth Vineyard is the perfect spot for a super relaxed Yorkshire wedding day. Holmfirth, a small town on the Woodhead Road within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirkless in West Yorkshire became famous when Last of the Summer Wine was set and filmed in and around it; the series centred on a trio of old men and their youthful misadventures.

You’ll find Holmfirth Vineyard 6 miles south of Huddersfield and 13 miles northeast of Glossop, and the town below this super scenic Yorkshire Wedding Venue mostly consists of gorgeous stone-built cottages nestled in the Pennine hills.

My Holmfirth Vineyard Wedding Photography coverage of this English Sri Lankan Fusion Wedding Day at Holmfirth Vineyard started with a bit of bridal prep and ended not long after the couple made their very emotional speeches to thank their family friends for sharing their special day with them both.

After the legal bit, family and friends got to enjoy the couple’s traditional Sri Lankan ceremony. At the heart of the ceremony is a simple platform where the bride and groom come together in marriage, with a holy man presiding and chanting. The couple took part in a series of rituals while their close families prayed, heads bowed.

Both fathers tied the nuptial knot and then they both poured holy water on the couple’s hands to mark the moment of their marriage. The bridegroom placed a jewelled necklace around his bride’s neck and a coconut was broken and an oil lamp lit, symbolising good luck, and a new start.

I absolutely loved documenting this English Sri Lankan fusion wedding day at Holmfirth Vineyard and hope you enjoy the images below. If you are planning a fusion wedding and/or would like me to photograph your wedding day at Holmfirth Vineyard – get in touch!
