35mm vintage film wedding photography in the UK
The Art of Forever: 35mm wedding photography for the soul visit my homepagemore about meIs it better to have wedding photos on film or digital?
I’m an elopement and wedding photographer based in North Wales, and honestly – I love a mix. I shoot both whenever I can. Film brings something digital can’t quite replicate: a soft, nostalgic quality, a sense of slowing down, and the quiet excitement of not knowing exactly what you’ll get until it comes back from the lab.
I use a Nikon F2 and a Pentax ME alongside digital on the day, and sometimes a cheerful little Olympus comes along for the dancefloor. Each camera has its own character, its own rhythm, its own way of noticing things.
Shooting film during a wedding or elopement feels a bit like leaning in – trusting the moment, trusting the light, trusting the feeling. There’s no overthinking, no perfecting, no checking the back of the camera. Just presence.
And the beauty is, you don’t have to choose.
Digital gives me the flexibility and coverage your day deserves, while film adds that gentle layer of nostalgia and soul.
If you book a full-day wedding or elopement package, 1–2 rolls of 35mm film are included, together with some raw clips from my vintage camcorder.
Enough to capture the atmosphere, the details and a handful of moments that will feel beautifully timeless years from now.
And beyond film, here’s a closer look at the different experiences I offer – elopements, small weddings and couples sessions.
