Tough call! Known for its majestic mountains, scenic glacier lakes and rugged landscapes deeply steeped in Welsh history, not to mention an undeniable charm and an untamed wilderness that is rare to find these days, Eryri is a spectacular setting for your couple photography session. I can offer couples that book me lots of incredible spots away from the busy tourist traps. Still, if I had to narrow it down to the 3 best (and most popular) locations in Eryri for a romantic couple photoshoot, these three instantly spring to mind:

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa): The highest peak in Wales, standing tall right in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Its majestic presence and the stunning landscapes surrounding it offer an exceptional setting for a couple’s photoshoot. The walk to the summit takes you through a variety of landscapes, from rocky paths and rugged cliffs to serene lakes and green valleys, offering diverse settings for your photoshoot. Unpopular opinion: personally – not one of my favourite locations for couple sessions – it’s the busiest little mountain in the UK and it’s difficult to avoid the crowds, even at sunrise or sunset.

Cwm Idwal and the Ogwen Valley: a glacial valley surrounded by high craggy peaks such as the famous Glyderau and Carneddau mountain ranges. The dramatic rock faces and towering mountains make a great backdrop for photography with Llyn Idwal – a serene mountain lake – nestled right in the centre of the valley. It’s a breathtakingly stunning location well worth a visit although it can get quite busy here. There are quieter spots nearby – if you know where to go. 

Newborough Beach (Traeth Llanddwyn) and Llanddwn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn): Not technically within Snowdonia National Park, but undoubtedly among the most picturesque locations in North Wales offering a fantastic setting for a couple’s photoshoot. Located on the southwestern corner of Anglesey, featuring miles of golden sands, you can see the dramatic backdrop of the Snowdonia mountain range across the water. The location is west-facing and therefore an excellent spot for capturing magical sunset shots. At its best when the sun sets over the sea – super romantic.
