Holmfirth Vineyard is a beautiful family-owned vineyard in the heart of Yorkshire. It was the most picturesque setting for this English Sri Lankan fusion wedding at Holmfirth Vineyard and being a wedding photographer in this scenic spot in Yorkshire is an absolute dream!
If you want beautiful views on your wedding day, they don’t come much better than this! The vineyard is set in 7 acres with unrivalled panoramic views across the beautiful Holm Valley. It’s one of the most scenic wedding venues with accommodation in Yorkshire. Some may even recognise this small town in West Yorkshire as the film set for Last of the Summer Wine.

You’ll find Holmfirth Vineyard 6 miles south of Huddersfield and 13 miles northeast of Glossop. It’s one of the relatively new wedding venues in Yorkshire with lots of gorgeous little spots for your photographer to take beautiful wedding pictures.
My booking as the couple’s Holmfirth Wedding Photographer started with bridal prep. After the legalities, family and friends enjoyed the couple’s traditional Sri Lankan ceremony. At the heart of their ceremony was a bespoke platform customised with beautiful flowers, bringing the bride and groom together in marriage. A holy man presided over proceedings and there was lots of chanting. It was quite emotional to see the couple take part in a series of rituals. Close family members bowed they heads and prayed. I’ve been lucky enough to capture quite a few different wedding cultures over the years and it’s always an absolute honour & privilege to document a couple celebrating their different heritages on their wedding day.

Both fathers tied the nuptial knot and then they both poured holy water on the couple’s hands to mark the moment of their marriage. The bridegroom placed a jewelled necklace around his bride’s neck. Next, the bride’s father broke a coconut followed by the couple lighting an oil lamp, symbolising good luck and a new start.
