Why engagement photos?

An engagement photoshoot in Wales is perfect for documenting the love you have for each other & your level of excitement ahead of your wedding day! It’s also a great opportunity to have fun with your wedding photographer! And to get to know them a little better.

Engagement Photoshoot UK

Following Lucia & Anna’s super romantic proposal on top of Snowdon, I met the newly engaged brides-to-be the day after at their romantic hideaway, Bodynfoel Hall in Llanfechain for their engagement photoshoot. With three perfectly unique spaces to choose from, this 19th century estate is hidden in the rolling grounds of Powys, between Llanfyllin and Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain. Unfortunately, I am somewhat directionally challenged and so it took me a fair while to find it! The couple had chosen the Van Goff van. It’s an absolute gem of tranquility and history and was once a bustling event cabin for the Llanfechain Horse Trials. It’s now a lovingly restored retro 1970’s off-grid hideaway with a spacious raised deck, overlooking the lush Welsh hills.

Why book an engagement photo session?

Set in 600 acres, ancient woodlands surround Bodynfoel Hall – perfect for pretty engagement photos! And it’s only a short stroll away from the nearest village pub. On a clear night, you can stargaze from the hilltops. Pack blankets and a flask of something hot and/or alcoholic to share for a super romantic experience! An engagement photoshoot in Wales give you the chance to reconnect and to take some time out. And at Bodynfoel Hall you can certainly do that!

Within Bodynfoel Hall’s beautiful grounds you’ll also find a couple of ponds really close by and you’re welcome to borrow a boat. And that’s exactly what this loved up couple did on their engagement photoshoot in Wales!

What is an engagement photo session?

An engagement session is basically just a photoshoot of the two of you before you marry. Often a pre-wedding photo session as part of your wedding photography package, your engagement photoshoot in Wales should be fun, preferably in a super relaxed & scenic setting and should leave you with memories that’ll last a lifetime!

How not to be awkward in engagement photos and what to wear

I always recommend that couples wear clothes that make them feel super relaxed – in my book, life is way too short to worry about clothes that make you feel awkward!! Avoid going all matchy matchy (unless, of course, that’s your thing in which case – definitely go for it). Choose colours and materials that complement each other, such as neutral earthy tones and wear something more classic rather than trendy so it won’t look too dated too soon.
