A wedding on Anglesey, followed by a little time together in the mountains of North Wales.

L & C’s wedding was a lovely reminder that you don’t have to choose between celebrating with your family and making a little time for yourselves.

They married at Château Rhianfa on Anglesey, surrounded by their closest people, including their little boy Milo, before heading into the mountains of Eryri for a very different second part of their wedding day.

Two beautiful locations, two very different experiences, and a wedding day that made room for both.

A small wedding at Château Rhianfa, Anglesey

Château Rhianfa is quite a place to get married.

Sitting on the shores of the Menai Strait, with its beautiful architecture and views across the water towards the mountains, it’s a lovely setting for a wedding in North Wales.

Laura & Carl chose to have their ceremony here, surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

Their little boy Milo was part of the celebrations too, which made this first part of the day very much about family and being together.

And I think that’s one of the lovely things about planning a wedding in your own way. You can have a beautiful venue, a proper ceremony and the people you love around you, without feeling like you need to follow every other wedding tradition.

From Château Rhianfa to the Mountains of Eryri

After their wedding at Château Rhianfa, Laura & Carl headed into the Ogwen Valley for a little time together.

And what a change of scenery.

From the beautiful surroundings of their wedding venue on Anglesey to the rugged mountains and lakes of Eryri, all on the same day.

But this wasn’t about finding another location for wedding photographs.

They wanted some time away from everything, somewhere that meant something to them, to enjoy being married and acknowledge some of the people who couldn’t be there.

The mountains gave them the space to do exactly that.

A Little Time Just for the Two of Them

We spent some time exploring around Llyn Ogwen, with Laura & Carl enjoying a few quiet moments together.

They’d brought words to share, and there was time to remember loved ones, hold each other close and simply be together.

There was even a little dance with their headphones on.

And that’s what made this part of their wedding day so lovely.

There wasn’t a schedule of things we needed to photograph or a list of poses to work through.

They’d chosen to spend some of their wedding day in the mountains because that’s where they wanted to be.

The photographs were simply a way of remembering that time.

A Wedding Day With Room for Both

One of my favourite things about Laura & Carl’s wedding was how naturally the two parts fitted together.

They had their ceremony at Château Rhianfa, celebrated with their family and included Milo in such an important day.

And afterwards, they made time for something that was just for them.

You don’t necessarily need to choose between a wedding with your favourite people and a little adventure somewhere outdoors.

You can do both.

Perhaps that’s a short walk after your ceremony, a few hours exploring the mountains or simply finding somewhere quiet to spend a little time together.

It’s your wedding day, after all.

And there’s something really lovely about planning it around how you actually want to spend it.
