St. Briavels (pronounced Brevels in case you wondered) was the setting for a romantic castle wedding in the Forest of Dean in early February.
Built in the early 12th century, this romantic castle on the border with Wales is just perfect for an intimate romantic castle wedding.
Located 7 miles north-east of Chepstow just off the B4228, the couple had come across St. Briavels Castle on one of their many walks and instantly had their hearts set on a romantic castle wedding.
We’d talked about their plans on their Ogwen Valley pre-wedding adventure but to be honest – this charming castle wedding venue was far more than I could have ever expected!
I joined the bride and her family for a spot of bridal prep after a very early drive down from North Wales. Once dressed and ready to go, we made our way to the church across the road for their ceremony. Spring was definitely in the air and it was so nice to see the first Snowdrops popping their heads up.
Their church service was beautiful and once they’d had been congratulated by their friends and family, the couple and I stayed in the front of the castle for a little while to shoot some beautiful wedding day portraits.
We rejoined their guests for some delicious food served in the castle’s Banquet Hall. Their intimate and romantic castle wedding ended with the couple enjoying their first dance as husband and wife.
